Hyperpigmentation Treatment

Hyperpigmentation Treatment

Hyperpigmentation refers to the dark patches or spots that appear on the skin due to various factors. These can include:

  • Prolonged exposure to the sun's harmful rays, leads to an overproduction of melanin.
  • Hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy or resulting from certain medical conditions.
  • Inflammation from acne, wounds, or skin conditions.
  • The natural aging process.
  • Genetic predispositions.

For effective hyperpigmentation treatment, it's essential to identify the specific type of pigmentation and tailor the treatment accordingly. Did you know? There are several types of hyperpigmentation, each with its unique cause and appearance:

Melasma

Sometimes called the "mask of pregnancy," this looks like brown or gray-brown patches, usually on the face. It can happen because of hormone changes, like during pregnancy or from birth control pills.

Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation

Think of this as a "memory" your skin has after an injury. So after a pimple, scratch, or any skin irritation, you might see a flat dark spot.

Sunspots

These are small, flat, brown spots that pop up after spending too much time in the sun. They often show up on the face, hands, or arms.

Freckles

Small brown spots can appear anywhere, especially if you have light skin. They can become darker if you're out in the sun a lot.

Liver Spots

Despite the name, they have nothing to do with the liver! They're like sunspots but usually appear on older folks.

It's essential to differentiate between the types of hyperpigmentation to ensure appropriate treatment.

LCP cosmetic specialist

Safety first! Choose a Certified LCP Aesthetic Doctor.

You often get what you pay for. Don't compromise your beauty and health for fleeting savings.

If you're contemplating a cosmetic medical procedure, always consult with certified and qualified doctors. Ensure your safety and rights. Many mishaps from cosmetic treatments can be avoided. While many claim to offer cosmetic medical services, not all hold an LCP certification.

What's LCP?

Letter of Credentialing and Privileging (LCP) in aesthetic medical practice in Malaysia. This is a certification that is required for medical practitioners who want to practice aesthetic medicine in Malaysia. To be eligible for the LCP, practitioners must be fully registered with the Malaysian Medical Council, have a current and valid Annual Practising Certificate, have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a medical officer (or equivalent) after full registration, and be free from any disciplinary actions. Practitioners who pass the LCP assessment will be granted a Letter of Credentialing and Privileging, which allows them to incorporate medical aesthetic services into their practice and get registration into the national registry.

Letter of credentialing and privileging

Adora Clinic stands as a reputable cosmetic clinic. Its leading aesthetic doctor Dr. Leong Moh Yiing, is LCP-certified and a fully qualified doctor.

LCP clinic

According to local news reports, only a few hundred doctors in Malaysia hold the LCP certification. This implies that tens of thousands claiming to be “cosmetic doctors” are unqualified. The report highlights over 20,000 unqualified or impersonating "cosmetic doctors" operate unregulated in the market, potentially causing various health risks to consumers, including cancer and fatal consequences.
